Abstract

This communication presents chromosome numbers of three species namely Spodoptera quadripunctata, Leucania unipuncta and Trigonodes hyppasia belonging to the family Noctuidae for the first time. Diploid numbers in these species have been found to be 36, 56 and 44 respectively. Chromosome preparations were made from testicular material Metaphase-I and metaphase-II stages also confirm these numbers. These species have their haploid numbers on the lower of the modal number described for the family.
