Abstract

Background and Objectives : Hospital Information System (HIS) is considered as an information system which has a great impact on the effectiveness and efficiency of hospital management.The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of hospital information system in hospitals which Payvande Dadeha Company’s software is used. Material and Methods : This study used a descriptive-field survey approach. Statistical population of this research contained information system users with a total number of 351 in four teaching hospitals supervised by Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, Iran. The sample size was estimated 183 people using Cochran formula. In this study, a researcher-made questionnaire was used based on the criteria outlined in the Ahitof and Newman model. The questionnaire included 35 questions on a five point Likert scale. Content validity of the questionnaire was approved by professors and experts. Initial and final reliabilities were calculated through Cronbach's alpha (0.94).SPSS software was used for data analysis. Results: Based on the findings, the content aspect of HIS was verified but the structure and time aspects were rejected. Conclusion : The results showed that the hospital information systems in content aspect is in a good condition, but in terms of time and structure, proper solutions are needed to improve the effectiveness. ​
